Welcome to Hebrew Scripture
This tool is designed to help you read, listen to, and memorize the Hebrew Old Testament. Use the dropdown above to navigate topics.
Quick Start
- Read Mode: The default view. Click any Hebrew word to hear it pronounced.
- Audio: Click the Play button at the bottom to listen to the chapter.
- Navigation: Use the top arrows to change chapters, or click the Book Name to jump to a specific book.
Read Mode
Read Mode focuses on immersion and listening.
Key Features
- Word Audio: Click any word to hear it spoken instantly.
- Word Tooltip: Hover over (or tap) a word to see its definition, morphology (grammar), and lemma (root form).
- Highlights: As audio plays, the current word and line are highlighted. You can toggle these in Display Options.
Study Tools
Switch modes using the icon on the top-left of the header.
- Blocks: Build the verse by selecting the correct Hebrew word from a multiple-choice list.
- Letter: Type the first letter of each word to reveal it. Ideal for rapid memorization.
- Word: Type the full word using the on-screen Hebrew keyboard.
Step System: Each game has 5 difficulty “Steps”. Adjust the number of steps in Memorize Options.
Audio Options
- Continuous Reading: Automatically move to the next chapter when the current one finishes.
- Verse Range: Loop a specific section (e.g., Verse 1 to 5). Useful for drilling passages.
- Loop Count: Set how many times the audio should repeat.
- Speed: Adjust playback speed from 0.5x to 1.5x (Pitch is preserved).
Display Options
Customize the overall text appearance and layout.
- Paragraph View: Switch between “Verse-by-Verse” (list) and “Paragraph” (flowing text) modes.
- Font Size & Line Height: Increase or decrease text size and spacing for better readability.
- Highlights: Toggle the visual guides (Word highlight, Line marker) that appear during audio playback.
Interlinear Options
Control what information is shown beneath each Hebrew word.
- Interlinear Data: Toggle English, Transliteration, Morphology, or Lemma (Root) on or off.
- Word Tip Box: Enable or disable the floating tooltip that appears when you hover or tap a word.
Memorize Tools
Special visual tools for Read Mode:
- Initials Only: Hides the full word, showing only the first letter. Hover to peek at the full word.
- Blur Words: Blurs the text until you hover over it.
Morphology Decoder Ring
Compound Words: Prepositions, conjunctions, and articles physically attached to a word are separated by a small diamond (e.g., C⬩P⬩A⬩N-SM).
